Ministry To The Lord

  In Paul Baloche's Youtube series titled "Leading Worship" he emphasizes the freedom in which he uses music for the purpose of communing with God on an individual level. He points out an important idea demonstrated in 1 Chronicles where the priests would come and minister to the Lord in the temple despite no one being there. The key was their individual ministering to the Lord. Baloche describes his own practice in which he comes into the empty sanctuary and simply dwells in the presence of God. A practical step that he highlights is memorizing songs so that he is able to play and sing as he feels led. He makes it clear that it's not about being on pitch, in time, or in tune, but rather connecting with the Lord.  What stands out to me is that everything Baloche does is prompted by the Spirit. The Heart of Worship

  Though worship may take the form of an outward expression, it is dependent on a genuine inward reality.  In Paul Baloche's Youtube series Leading Worship, he highlights the necessity of having the Heart of Worship. Baloche emphasizes that, ideally, those leading in worship, specifically of the musical variety, should be cultivating their private ministry with the Lord the six days prior to the day they lead. He points out two practical ways to do this, the first of which is "Being a Person of the Word". Colossians 3:16 says "Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly and out of that will come psalms and hymns and spiritual songs". Memorizing scripture and, as the book of Deuteronomy says, "dwelling on it day and night", is a way to make it a part of the 24/7. Baloche also mentions the need to be a "Person of Prayer".
